Body found in pond

A dead man was found in a pond in Valencia yesterday morning.

The badly decomposing body, which bore marks of violence, was found in the Turure forest at around 6 a.m., police said. The officers were seeking help to identify the body up to last night.

However, it has been theorised that the killing may be linked to illegal quarrying within the community.

It was the third discovery by police of a lifeless body within 48 hours.

On Monday morning, the hacked body of man known to be a roadside beggar was found near the walkover at the Pasea, Tunapuna intersection and the Churchill Roosevelt Highway.

Another badly decomposed body was found in a shallow grave off Celestine Trace, Maraval, at around 2.30 p.m. on Monday afternoon.

All of these bodies remained unidentified up to yesterday. - PC
