Victims need blood
Aftermath of attack on tourists in Tobago

THE British High Commission is appealing for members of the public to come forward and donate blood for British nationals Peter and Murium Greene.

The retired British couple, who were seriously injured during a cutlass attack at their Bacolet home in Tobago last Saturday, have been receiving medical care at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mount Hope since the brutal incident.

According to a spokesperson from the Commission, however, the call for the blood comes after several members of the public called and asked how they could assist the couple.

And since Murium, 59, who is scheduled to have an operation to repair her fractured jaw was in need of blood, the Commission thought the blood drive was an ideal way for people to assist, and get some blood for the blood bank in the process.

Anyone wishing to assist can visit the blood bank at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope to make a donation.

why the goverment dont pay all the costand these people back to the uk where they can get the appropriate treatment. the goverment should fit the bill for all cost including accommodation and also two nurses to look after these people in the uk even if it mean fitting hotel accommodaton bill for the support needed.

I do hope people come forward to donate the blood needed for Peter & Murium.I grew up with Peter in Reading, England and hope you can pass on my sincere wishes that they recover quickly from this awful attack. They adore Tobago and say of all the places they visited it was THE best. GIVING BLOOD Posted: 2009-08-07 09:12:00 AM
Good luck in getting blood. I should say free blood. My brother was in need of blood recently and guess what the only way I was able to get the blood for his was by offering $100. per pint.

There should be an exodus of people trying to get into the doors of the hospital to give some blood. It is the least the PEOPLE can do since the government has miserably failed to protect.

First and foremost I wish the couple every best and God's speed. I do hope it is an act of kindness that people are donating blood, and not that the medical community does not have an ample blood supply. But, it appears to be the latter, since that poor woman had to pay for blood for her brother. Shameful!!!!
