Chaguanas, Couva vie for Jack's pockets
NACTA: Constituents not satisfied with Panday's service

Pollster Vishnu Bisram says that the latest survey done by his organisation, the North America Teachers’ Association (NACTA) shows constituents of Chaguanas West and Couva North vying for Jack Warner to be their parliamentary representative because of his ability to deliver resources.

Chaguanas residents say Jack Warner has been the best representative they have ever had while Couva North constituents say they are not being ’serviced’ by their sitting Member for Parliament, United National Congress political leader and Opposition Leader Basdeo Panday, Bisram said in a release yesterday.

NACTA, in a media release yesterday, said several Couva North residents have complained that they have not seen Panday in their villages for the 32 years he has represented them in Parliament.

These residents want Warner to be their representative, but Chaguanas West does not want to give up Warner because of his willingess to dig deep into his pockets to service them, NACTA says.

According to the release, the opinion survey, conducted by Bisram, polled voters in several constituencies to determine levels of satisfaction of representation by their member of Parliament.

NACTA says 86 voters were polled in Couva North and 82 voters in Chaguanas West to represent the demographic composition of the population. An additional 465 voters were also interviewed, in a few other selected UNC-held constituencies, for their views on their member of Parliament, the release added.

The NACTA survey also says were Warner not given a UNC nomination again and contests the seat on another platform, only four per cent of opposition supporters would support the UNC’s candidate. NACTA says this suggests that Warner would win re-election should he contest Chaguanas West for any party. Commenting on Panday’s announcement to be the ’caretaker’ of Chaguanas West, constituents say Panday should service his own constituents rather than overburden himself with the problems of the Borough of Chaguanas, the NACTA survey found.

Panday should listen Posted: 2009-08-08 6:59:00 PM
Finally, people are saying that they want a representative who does his/her job and it is not based on race, ethnicity but on the person's ability to do his or her job and make sacrifices. However, we must be mindful that not every representative has the resources like that of Warner. But it is a start that people are looking beyond race.

I wish he would come represent us in Belmont. We need him and his generousity here. Come on, Mr. Warner, we will welcome you with open arms. You don't have to take that abuse. Come back home, like the prodigal son, all is forgiven and we love you.
If the COP wants to create a strong party, the RamjackG has to be included now. Posted: 2009-08-09 11:15:00 AM
If the COP wants to fight alone, the best they will do is form the opposition but if they join forces with the RamjackG, they will be in government.
This is a clear indication that Panday will be history if an election is called. Posted: 2009-08-09 1:06:00 PM
Enjoy your lasting term Panday because if an election is called, you and the rest of your gang will be further embarrassed.
