Part-time construction worker, Kendell Agostini, may have been gunned down by one of his enemies, his aunt Glenis Agostini said yesterday.
Agostini said her nephew, father of a five-year-old girl, was lured to a bar near his home and shot dead. The shooting happened around 1 a.m. outside Traxx Bar in Chaguanas yesterday.
The bar is within sight of the Central Division Police Headquarters.
Agostini lived a short distance away at Joseph Street. He was shot in the chest, police said.
His killing has pushed the murder toll to 327, according to an Express tally.
’He had some enemies, so it may have been one of those people who came back for him. But I understand that he also had an altercation at the bar earlier that night, I don’t know if it’s connected,’ Agostini said.
Agostini said her 25-year-old nephew left the bar after the argument and went to another liming spot.
’Someone came in a car and asked him to go with them. And he went into the car and they drove back to the first bar, where he was shot. I think it was a set up,’ she said.
Agostini said her nephew was questioned by police during a murder investigation two years ago. And he had several pending matters, including possession of marijuana, before the courts, it was learned. She said his cousin, Jason Agostini, was also shot dead in the Beetham Gardens, in Port of Spain last year.
’But Kendell was a good man. He was someone you can call on to do anything and he would come. He was a good father, he always wanted the best for his child. The last time I saw him he was taking his daughter to her grandmother’s house in Cunupia,’ she said.
His body was taken to the Forensic Science Centre in St James where an autopsy will be performed. Homicide detectives are continuing investigations.
