A retired police sergeant was found dead Monday night, his hands and feet tied with strips of cloth and his eyes sealed shut with duct tape.
Police suspect he was strangled.
The killers ransacked his home and stole appliances, jewelry and two cars which were parked downstairs.
Harripersad Ramkissoon, 64, was attached to several police stations in South Trinidad, investigators said.
A father of three, Ramkissoon lived alone at Cottage Road, St John’s Village, San Fernando. He was last seen walking around his home on Sunday evening.
His brother, Persad Ramkissoon, said he went to check on his brother around 8.30 p.m. on Monday and found the front door open.
’I called out to him, but there was no answer. I went inside and he was lying on the bed,’ he said. Investigators believe Ramkissoon was strangled since there were marks on his neck.
His killers then loaded appliances, electronics and jewelry into his two cars - a Nissan B-13 and Nissan B-14 - and drove away, police said.
Relatives said they were clueless as to why someone would want to kill him.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Unit officers dusted for evidence yesterday. But up to late evening no one was arrested.
