Teen held for raping girl, 12

A 12-year-old school girl was sexually assaulted by a teenager who was staying at her neighbour’s house.

Police said the girl was walking outside her home on Tuesday when the 16-year-old boy grabbed her and took her to the back of his relative’s home where he raped and sodomised her, police said.

The girl told her parents, who contacted the police. The incident happened around 10 a.m.

The teenager was taken into police custody and was being interrogated last evening.

Teen Held for Raping Posted: 2009-08-13 04:23:00 AM
This is nothing new.Plenty young women are getting raped and is too ashamed to tell anyone and those who do, their parents feel too ashamed to report it to the police. To you young ladies and men out there, if it should happen to you please remember you must not blame yourself and never be ashamed to go to the police, doctor or hospital. If you do, remember you'll be saving someone else from going through that Trauma besides, he can do it again. It's time Manning use our money and build another prison for our young offenders as we have plenty Rapists and Paedophiles living in our homes and walking our streets. SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS IN T&T Posted: 2009-08-13 02:53:00 AM
This is really disheartening to know that children continue to be the objects of sexual exploitation and can no longer feel safe. Young men please respect the girls of this country.

He may be a teen, but I hope they convict him and give him the severest possible sentence. It is at this age, they need to be taught a lesson before they become serial rapists like so many other rapists in Trinidad. They have been getting away with this for too long and now we MUST put our feet down and show that this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated.
12YR OLD RAPED Posted: 2009-08-13 02:28:00 AM
Children raping children. This is such a scar on this young girl's life; and the start of a life of crime for the 16yr old, if he does not get help, quickly. This country needs prayers like yesterday. KS
Why am I not surprised, disgusted, but not surprised Posted: 2009-08-13 09:22:00 AM
This is indicative of where our society is heading. Restore corporal punishment in schools, restore the death penalty, restore some type of religious instruction. Trinidad is slipping and it may soon be too late.

Wow! That's gross! Raped and sodomized? Where does a 16 year old learn about sodomy? This is terrible for both the boy and the girl child- just horrible. Lots of psychological counseling is required for both parties. This boy is sick and I am sorry for him. I am very sorry for the victim also. It's a terrible matter to be dealt with. ac,md

Perhaps this young man was Raped or Sodomised during his early years. He should be seen by a Psychologist be4 we vilify him.Once a report is given then and only then the law should make a decision on how to deal with him.

these crimes must not be tolerated. sexual abuse is the worse form of abuse . it handed down to humans. it starts off like this and if not punished severely will most likely end up a serial rapist or even a murderer. that boy does not deserve bail throw away the key leave him to rot for his wicked act
Sex crimes against Children is a serious Public Health Problem Posted: 2009-08-13 09:03:00 AM
Sex crimes against young girls and boys is at an all time high in Trinidad. Prevention; Public Health and intervention;Social Workers, counselors, psychologists are needed to assess, diagnose and treat/counsel victims of these crimes as well as the perpetrators. Law enforcement, juvenile justice, educators, public health and social workers, developmental disability workers and policymakers should convene work groups to learn about the problems and collectively develop approached to dealing with this very serious public health problem.
