CHAGUANAS West MP Jack Warner says he has attended to some 200 needy constituents of Basdeo Panday’s Couva North electoral district since opening his shadow constituency office in Panday’s electoral district two weeks ago.

On Thursday, Warner met 105 people who went to the office for help.

Among them was Mungal Sookram, 63, of Bank Village, Carapichaima, who received help to the value of some $3,200 to purchase medication for a heart ailment.

’So long I going to the hospital for help, and all I getting was the runaround. I come here today and I get the medication I need,’ Sookram said.

Sookram said Warner should open more offices in other parts of Trinidad to help needy people.

Warner said he interviewed people in need of housing accommodation, groups in need of assistance to promote cultural activities, and in some cases, ’people who claimed they were not receiving treatment from Government because they do not belong to the PNM (People’s National Movement)’.

A community group from Sea Lots was also seen at the Carapichaima office, waiting for an audience with Warner during his visit Thursday night.

’We want some financial help for a queen show at Sea Lots,’ said O’Neil Daniel, president of the group that will be putting on the show this weekend.

Chandra Ramsingh, of Carlson Field, said she went to the office after she failed on several occasions to get an appointment to see Prime Minister Patrick Manning to assist her in getting a house.

’This is the last resort,’ Ramsingh said.

Joan Edmund, of Orange Valley Road, Couva, said she had not been able to see the MP, Basdeo Panday, for at least two years.

’I want to ask him to get the road repaired, but I have tried on many occasions and I failed to meet him,’ she said.
