...Bailey bridge up by today

TOCO/SANGRE GRANDE MP, Indra Sinanan Ojah-Maharaj, told the Express last night that all the people stranded in Toco last night were accommodated at guest houses and food, water and other essential supplies had been provided for them.

She added that if everything goes as planned, the Bailey bridge to replace that one that collapsed on Saturday should be up by this afternoon.

The exasperated-sounding MP also lashed out at those she accused of ’playing politics’ with a ’serious situation’, adding that she personally visited as many people as she could to find out how things were going.

TOO MANY P.N.M. INVESTMENTS IN THE AREA Posted: 2009-08-23 5:08:00 PM
We know that the bridge would not stay down for long.Too many high society people have a vested interest,in the area now.Besides, the private resorts,we have the P.N.M.Salybia resort, manufactured and managed by P.N.M. hacks while in office. All that extra activity and no restoration/refurbishing of the infrastructure. What do you expect?Aubert Modeste

Another "outing de fire down dey". It shouldn't have happened but that's what you get when dunderhead supporters get jobs in national pork sharing projects.
Up by today? Posted: 2009-08-24 05:11:00 AM
Are you kidding? Will that structure be safe? Would you trust driving over that bridge after it took hours to reconstruct? Sandra
Bailey Bridge Up By Today Posted: 2009-08-24 10:51:00 AM
Typical behavior of leaders here in Trinidad; they are reactive rather than proactive. This bridge has been under construction for the past ten years now it has fallen it could be built over night. Come on, this is digusting! Why couldn't this have been done from the beginning? Those responsible for this project and similar projects should account to the citizens and tax payers of this country why projects are taking longer than they should.
Building bridges to the future Posted: 2009-08-24 11:13:00 AM
My question is why this bridge was not previously fixed when all the contracts were being handed out previously to improve the toco main road.....these bridges should be checked every ten years for structural integrity. Do we not have engineers working for works who should know this????
