Father of two shot in the head

killed: Brent Jerome

THIS month was supposed to have been a memorable one for Wendy McKenzie-the day after she celebrated her son’s fifth birthday, her daughter was born.

However, Mc Kenzie, 23, will now be forced to remember this month for a different reason.

Two Fridays after Mc Kenzie celebrated the gift of her children’s lives, the life of their father was taken away.

Brent Jerome, 30, a father of three, was found fatally shot in Cunupia last Friday. Jerome, also known as ’Cougar’, was a farmer who originally lived at La Lune in Moruga. He was last seen alive by relatives sometime around 6 p.m. on Thursday, when he left the Cumuto home he shared with Mc Kenzie.

Around 7.30 a.m. last Friday, Jerome was found in Cunupia with a single gun shot wound to his head.

His mother, Theresa Duncan, yesterday went to the Forensic Science Centre in St James to identify her son’s body.

’He was cool, nothing was too hard for him to do for anybody. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time,’ Duncan said.

’His son, TJ, turned five on August 7, his daughter was born the day after on August 8, we have not even named her as yet,’ Duncan said.

This is really too, too, sad. My condolences to Ms. Duncan and Ms. McKenzie, and oh those poor children.
