THE man wanted for the Friday evening murder of 18-year-old Ornella Nanton was recently released from prison and was reportedly trying to make amends with the young woman just before shooting her twice in the head.
About two weeks ago, Nanton lost her baby during the delivery at the San Fernando General Hospital. The child’s umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck causing him to suffocate.
The Express caught up with some of Nanton’s relatives yesterday morning at the Forensic Science Centre in Long Circular where the post mortem on her body had been done.
Nanton was killed around 5.30 p.m. last Friday while seated in a Nissan Almera driven by Richard Murrain.
The shooting happened at St John’s Trace, Claxton Bay, while Nanton and her killer were having a heated discussion during which he drew a pistol and shot her twice to the head. Murrain too was shot but managed to drive to the St Margaret’s Police Station. Nanton was already dead by the time he got there. One of Nanton’s relatives yesterday described her as ’a real nice person’.
’She didn’t stand for no stupidness but she was the kind of person if you knew her you would always want to be around her,’ he said.
