'Stolen gun' recovered

A police inspector working with a special unit in the service is now under investigation, after reporting that he was attacked by thieves while driving home and robbed of court documents and his service revolver.

The internal investigation was launched after the ’stolen’ gun was taken to police headquarters by a Marabella businessman who said he found it at a bar.

The officer had reported that while driving home in South Trinidad last month, when he was forced to stop along a lonely stretch of a canefield road after a car pulled across the path of his vehicle.

The officer said the men stole his gun and ammunition, personal identification documents, and a briefcase containing documents related to cases in which he was involved.

Detectives were searching for two suspects until the gun taken in by the businessman was traced back to the inspector.

Businessmen need guns BUT... Posted: 2009-09-03 07:23:00 AM
Well the problem here is that businessmen need to be able to protect themselves. However to wrongs dont make a right and the law of the land is for all and not some !!!!
Ti pays to be cautious. Posted: 2009-09-03 09:18:00 AM
I hope the businessman had called the police station or 999 first, before he took the gun to the station. Better yet it the police should have picked up the gun.

It just goes to show that the people of this country can no longer believe or put any faith in the police service in these hard times.

Maybe the bandits wanted to frame the Police Inspector, right?...so they robbed him of his revolver and then put it in a bar to set him up....or wait no...after stealing the gun , they realised that theirs was much better, so they went to a bar, had some fun over trhe inspector's inferior weapon, and left it there...yeah right!!!
ID of suspects Posted: 2009-09-03 06:47:00 AM
Why do you people continue to do that? The inspector's weapon was allegedly stolen so why not give a description of those who stole it? Size, age, what they were wearing, etc so the community at large can be on the lookout for the 'alleged' criminals!
fishy indeed Posted: 2009-09-03 12:19:00 AM
