A relative of Chief Magistrate Sherman McNicolls yesterday appeared in court charged with stealing $60,000 worth of steel pipes.
Ian Halls, 23, McNicolls’s nephew, appeared in the Princes Town First Court yesterday. He was jointly charged with 43-year-old Cecil Daniel for the offence. Both men, of North Trace, New Grant, were not called upon to plead.
They were represented by attorney Russell Pena, who asked Senior Magistrate Indrani Cedeno to grant his clients bail.
It was alleged the men stole three lengths of ten-foot pipe from a businessman in New Grant between August 16 and 30. Charges were laid by Corporal Mohanlal Bhagwandeen.
The men were each granted $100,000 bail. A cash security of $4,000 was also given. The matter was adjourned to September 14.
