...118 cases of virus so far

South Bureau

This country has so far recorded 118 cases of the Influenza A/H1N1 virus, including the two pupils of the Grant Memorial School, San Fernando, who are being treated at home.

The Ministry of Health yesterday said the latest epidemiological data shows that only three of the 118 cases are currently active.

’The persons infected remain isolated and are receiving the care they need. All other cases (115) have been cleared and have returned to their normal activities.’

The Ministry said it expected a second wave of the virus around this time- the beginning of September - and so made modifications to its protocol for dealing with the virus.

The Health Ministry has also collaborated with the Ministry of Education to issue and distribute guidelines for schools and parents which are available through the Ministry’s website.
