A COCORITE teenager wanted for murder, robbery, shooting, gun-possession and assault was shot dead on Sunday night near his home.
Dwayne Legerton was only 18.
He lived with his relatives at Waterhole, Cocorite and according to a relative who spoke to reporters yesterday, Legerton was once charged with stealing a cellular phone.
He was killed just after 7 p.m. while he was standing near a church close to his home. The man who shot him escaped and remained at large up to press time last night.
Legerton died on the spot.
With respect to Legerton’s life prior to his death the police had a much more detailed score sheet.
A senior St James CID investigator Legerton was a suspect in a 2007 murder in Tobago and was before the courts on gun and robbery and shooting charges.
’He was as hard-core as they came...and he wasn’t easy,’ said the senior officer.
Homicide Bureau officers are continuing investigations.
In the meantime the police are continuing investigations into the murder of a Carenage man who was shot dead in Laventille.
Police said that Allister Antoine, 22, of Sea View Hill was found dead in a drain at Block 22 in Laventille on Saturday night. He had been shot several times.
