Exploitation of poor couple

Please don't encourage cheap exploitation of this poor couple's tragedy. In the first place this heinous act was preventable if the police had the crime situation under control. Citizens are being murdered every few hours and the hapless and hopeless Government and Police don't seem to have a clue on how to arrest the situation, far less the culprits and criminals.
Did I not just read that the already traumatised couple's house was just broken in, vandalised and robbed? Better they take the donation and put their house in order. Government has money to squander, they can ease up on the squandermania and put some in Mt Hope & the other health institutions. |

Well I commend the Greenes for their generousity of spirit for being able to forgive the heinous act that was committed against them and to say that they will come back to Tobago when they are healed and actually raise funds for the Mount Hope Hospital. Wow, they are truly angels, but I would warn them that this is really a very bad move. Okay, forgive; okay, raise funds; but come back to Tobago to live? Now, that is too risky for me. I would have hightailed it to another island in the Caribbean. The other islands out there are real safe, and the people real friendly. Look at the stats, some of those islands had only one murder last year, so why go back to a place that almost sent you to the grave? I think that the Greenes are a great and forgiving couple, but totally misguided. |

I commend the Green's for their loyalty to Tobago, and I am happy that they are doing well, when their tragedy happened, I felt sad for them and also shame for my country, I do not know if I had to make that choice if I would come back, I will be to scared to, but they are strong and forgiving, and as they have said you cannot blame a whole Island for one person misdeeds. Please keep them safe when they return, also I am glad that someone was happy with our healthcare system and after those many horror stories, God bless the Green's.USA CT |

It is very sad to reach that far and at that stage for one to be injured from another Country to help 'poor' Trinidad. Is Trinidad such in utter need that citizens from another Country have to help, that says the state of the Health system in Trinidad. POOR! |

Sorry i do'nt think the Green's are helping 'ur country because it's poor! I think it's more of a gesture as a 'Thank You' for the treatment they were given by all concerned. Pple do this all the time or most times if they can afford. Nothing to do with the financial state of T&T Far from it. |

What an amazing couple!!! The fact that they can still have such a love for the country and the people after such a horrific experience is truly admirable. I get the feeling that these foreigners are more Trinbagonian than most of us who were 'born and bred'. Their unwavering love for our islands and our people must be acknowledged by the Government in some tangible manner. Imagine these people are asking what can they do to promote tourism in Tobago! To Mr. and Mrs. Greene, I say to you "Nuff respect!" The world (and especially Trinidad & Tobago) could do with more people like you. May God continue to bless you both. MF Barbados |
Much thanks to the Greene's for trying to promote tourism.....

But we must also not let the Police take a backseat because of the Greene's reactions to their near death experience. They lived! What about the Swedish Couple who died? We are still getting a bad reputation from that incident, the worse we ever had in several years. People in the hotel industry are being laid off as we speak because of the negativity. Nothing never happened after all the hype. Where is the case now, did they arrest anyone who had a link to the murders? Europe and Scandinavia are Tobago's largest tourists arrivals here and there we go killing them, and I said "we" because we all have a part to play in crime no matter how small or how big. We create our own criminals and now it has gotten out of hand and even the police corrupted. So the question is, who will help us now to solve crime and make a better T&T for all hmmm? God, the government, the father of the nation perhaps? |

Wow! I am touched and greatly esteemed by the British couples reaction to the grave incident. Most people would just bad talk our country and discourage others from coming to our twin island paradise. I am very happy to hear this and is it very heartwarming as well. I wish them a rapid recovery to their normal lives. |

First of all I am thankful to God for sparing the lives of these innocent people - REGARDLESS of where they are from. Secondly, I am thankful for the hearts of Mr. & Mrs. Greene - thankful that they did not allow a root of bitterness to take hold of them towards our people because of ONE individual who carried out this wicked and brutal attack on both of them. Most of all I could only hope that the individual who was charged IS INDEED the perpetrator AND IS NOT being used as a scapegoat so as to appease the public and to "look good" in the eyes of the world. I really hope the police have done honest investigations that would cause them to conclude that they have their "man". I hope that when this matter begins, the prosecution's calendars are cleared so that they are at court, arresting officers are present each and everytime the matter is called. In other words the prosecution's case should be air tight so that this would not be a circus and would not be drawn out. It would be a disgrace to see the defence bore holes all over the prosecution's case because of lies and more lies. US is watching! |

This is not touching....it is sad. Those poor people could've been killed and as if to rub salt in their wounds, their home was robbed again! No remorse or kindness or care shown to these people, just kick them when they are down. Obviously those who they love, don't love them back. |

I agree with you on the "gentle" Tobagonians description because one sat in my window seat [American Airlines] from Miami to Piarco and because I asked her to move to her reserved seat on the aisle in my row, she became very hostile and began to curse about you Trinidadians who live in America, etc., etc. I was time enough for her so she left me alone---because I got real DC on her. You Trinidadians & Tobagonians are so dumb; always welcoming someone in your crooked country with open arms, but when you go to their country they just tolerate your presence and discriminate on your backsides. They are here and enjoy life far better than you, yet you grin in their faces and serve their needs and wants, but do they do it for you......idiots. |

i agree with the last person's comment. they love our country, could come and go as they please but we have to go through crap just to stay in their country for even six months, sometimes they send you on the next plane back after about ten hours of questioning. and when they come we welcome them with open arms. it's good for them but we get the worst treatment when we enter their country. don't get me wrong i do not condone violence but our country should also get though an people entering our country just the same as they do not just for the sake of tourism. |
