Cop charged with wife's murder

Police Constable Sunil Akaloo is expected to appear before a Sangre Grande magistrate today charged with murdering his wife.

Akaloo, 39, a police officer for the past 15 years, is jointly charged with spiritual Baptist leader Marlon Lee.

Lee, 35, is also a taxi-driver and hails from Upper McCay Lands, Belmont, while Akaloo is attached to the Finance Branch Department of the service.

Both men were charged over the weekend by WP Sgt Beverly Paul of the Sangre Grande CID, following intensive investigations by Insps Ancil Corbette, Stanley Ramdeen and PC Sunil Ramoutar of the Eastern Homicide Bureau.

Akaloo and Lee are charged with murdering school teacher Bhagmat Seemungal-Akaloo on September 15.

Seemungal-Akaloo, 44, was the mother of a three-year-old daughter and lived in Cunaripo.

She taught at the Manzanilla High School and was snatched from her home during the early hours of Tuesday morning. Her body was subsequently found in some bushes mere metres from where she lived.

I live in Boston but grew up near Sangre Grande and read this story which was quite disturbing.Killing is not a solution .Kudos for the police on their swift action anyone could see and smell the fishiness of this whole scenario miles away. Its sad when someone takes another life thinking it is the only way.My prayers are for her family

I feel the inspector have it all wrong. Give me some reasons why Akaloo would want to kill his wife. I am waiting to hear from you.
