Secretary General of the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha (SDMS) is pleased with the million-dollar award.
’We are satisfied with the allocation,’ Maharaj said yesterday following the judgment in favour of the SDMS.
’We are satisfied that the courts and the nation recognises that there is discrimination in the Hindu population and against the Maha Sabha,’ Maharaj said.
He said the matter was reported to the Integrity Commission for an investigation to be done. ’But the Integrity Commission is in limbo,’ he said.
’We are asking the Government to use its facilities to prosecute the people who discriminated against the entire population of Hindus,’ he said.
Maharaj said he hoped the State will go after the people in Cabinet who committed the act.
’We are calling on the State to do that now. To identify those people who lied to the court,’ he said.
Maharaj said he was satisfied the that courts are free and independent and said the citizens must ensure that politicians do not have a stranglehold on the court’s power to deliver fair judgement.
Part of the close to two million dollars received will be used to pay legal expenses, Maharaj said.
Citadel’s chairman and co-owner, Louis Lee Sing, said he felt the courts had erred and he was the one discriminated against in the matter.
’I am amused when it is written that the Maha Sabha was discriminated against in my favour. I feel it is the reverse,’ Lee Sing said following yesterday’s judgment.
’(Radio) Jaagriti does not reflect any ratings at all,’ Lee Sing said.
’Having a licence does not necessarily mean that you will make money,’ he said.
