Bank robber gets six months' jail

A 21-year-old man who pleaded guilty to robbing a bank at gunpoint was jailed for six months yesterday.

Shern Emmanuel, of Point D’or, La Brea, pleaded guilty when he appeared before Point Fortin Magistrate Betsy Ann Peterson.

He was not represented by an attorney.

Emmanuel told the court he knew he had done something wrong and was sorry.

The court heard that Emmanuel and two other men went to Republic Bank at Techier Road, Point Fortin, and robbed a female teller of $2,410. The robbery occurred around 8.35 a.m. on Thursday.

Police have launched a manhunt for the two other suspects. They escaped with the cash. -CK
