Chinese worker dies after fall

ONE week after falling off scaffolding while working on the Tranquillity Government Primary School, Chinese national Zhi Shen succumbed to his injuries at St Clair Medical Centre yesterday.

Zhi, 50, was employed with the Beijing Liujian Construction Corporation T&T Ltd.

The company, in statement to the media, said yesterday Zhi was climbing the scaffolding when he undid his harness and fell, his helmet ’somehow detached’ causing head injuries.

According to Danian Li, Managing Director of the construction company, an investigation into the accident is continuing in compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Authority.

The government must investigate these "accidents" Posted: 2009-10-05 12:29:00 AM
It is totally unacceptable for these Chinese to leave their homes to come to a strange land and end up dead while trying to make a shilling.I want a government investigation and the Chinese embassy to investigate this very seriously. Imagine relatives waiting on this man to reach back home alive.......

My condolences to the family on their lost.. however, why do we have Chinese ppl builing our infrastructure? There are so many local ppl who are unemployed, why not employ our own to build the country.. maybe if the government would try to get our youths employed we would not have as much crime in our beloved T&T..
