Officer held entering prison with contraband

A PRISON officer with 19 years service is expected to appear before a Port of Spain magistrate after being arrested while attempting to enter a restricted section of the Port of Spain prison with contraband items.

The prison officer was arrested on Tuesday. The items he had included three cellular phones, four SIM cards, three cellphone chargers and three headsets. The man also had four cartons of cigarettes, several individual packs of cigarettes and three lighters.

Police said the man was searched by his colleagues as he was about to enter into the restricted area. He was later handed over to the police, who were still questioning him up to last night.

Same beating for him? Posted: 2009-10-08 11:19:00 PM
This prison officer should get a 'good beating' at the hands of inmates similar to the beatings by prison officers on inmates.Prison officers and police are nasty corrupt individuals.

You seem to be so compassionate for the inmates beatings, have your family ever been victimized by one of these scums?

Officer Held Etc Posted: 2009-10-09 07:06:00 AM
This officer is either dumb or perhaps think he is too bright to get caught. What was he thinking? 19 years service thrown away simply because of greed. He should be sacked immediately.I can only imagine what other scams he is perhaps involved in.Corruption rife in T&T what message are we giving to the younger generation. It's time pple like him is dealt with by the courts as quickly as possible and start setting examples of them. PRISON OFFICER HELD... Posted: 2009-10-09 07:46:00 AM
And the beat goes on. Prisoners with access to cell phones, can still call the shots from behind prison walls. Doubt very much, that they are trying to keep in touch with friends and family. They are conducting business as usual. 19 years of service going down the drain...for what? Maybe a couple thousand dollars. How foolish. Kiya.

Security officers are to protect and serve not indulge in wrong doing once caught they should be made a public example. JAIL THEM
Old News. Posted: 2009-10-09 06:50:00 AM
This illegal act of Prison Officers bringing in contra-band is a main part of the Massive Crime syndicate that is causing murders and people being robbed, and when the criminals need bail they call their boys to rob somebody to get bail money or they operate their illegal business from their jail cells of have witness Murdered. This officer should be jailed and lose all his benefits. The Prison service likewise the police have too many Dirty officers within their ranks and the services need to be purged, this has been going on for too long, enough is enough.

This bandit should not be allowed bail. It's guys like him who give the other decent prison officers a bad name. Shame on him. It's no wonder crime is at such a peak. We cannot tell the difference between the good and the bad. Lock him up! Brenda, Edmonds, WA

Everyday I read about a different kind of crime Posted: 2009-10-09 11:45:00 AM
Oh my God! This is really horrible news to read in Norway, after reading about Obama's peace prize. The governemnt is too weak on crime and punishment. Bring in laws and rules like Egypt where if you steal, you will loose a hand or a finger. If you rape, you will be castrated, if you lie, you will be jailed for several months. Trinidad, you are the joke of the world.
I agree Posted: 2009-10-09 3:35:00 PM
I agree with everything that "OLD NEWS" said
Took 19 years to catch him? Posted: 2009-10-09 4:05:00 PM
For those of you us thinking he "Gave up 19 years for a few dollars". My concern is that it took 19 years to catch this scum bag... He has been doing this for a very long time... Wonder who he learnt from?
