Max seeks senators' views

One of the Independent Senators who met with President George Maxwell Richards said last night that they were invited by the President to give their views on a number of matters in the public domain, including the controversy surrounding their colleague, Michael Annisette.

On Tuesday, Richards summoned Annisette following calls from various quarters for his appointment to be revoked following statements he made on UdeCOTT in the Senate.

’This was a matter that we discussed and it was a confidential discussion between the President and ourselves...We spoke to him on various matters,’ the senator said, adding: ’Any audiences with His Excellency the President are by their very nature private and confidential. He is free to invite our opinions on any matter that is in the public domain at the moment.’

The senator stressed they did not even know that the President was going to raise the Annisette issue.

Buh how dey minding our business so badly! Posted: 2009-10-09 05:52:00 AM
I always thought that we the taxpayers pay senators to 'mind we business' and here we have a senator telling us they did not know that Mr Annisette, a fellow senator, was to be the subject matter of the President's invitation, of which every Tom, Dick and Harrilal knew that was the purpose!
