No bail for clerks on $4.75m theft charge

TWO men who allegedly stole millions of dollars’ worth in hardware items from their employer were denied bail yesterday.

Harry Ramoutar, 51, and Mohan Ramdass, 36, both of Princes Town, allegedly stole $4,750,000 worth of items from Tazmool Hosein and Sons Ltd on Union Road, Marabella.

The company also has a branch in Princes Town.

The men were employed as clerks at the hardware.

It is alleged that from February 6 to last Monday they stole doors, welding plans, power drills, water pumps, electrical saws and other hardware items.

The loot was allegedly found at their homes during a search on Thursday. Charges were laid by Detective Constable Khemraj Sahadeo.

Ramoutar was represented by attorney Anuusha Panday. She also held for Ramdass’s counsel, Gool Bunsee.

The case was heard before San Fernando Fourth Court Magistrate Alicia Chankar.

Family members crowded the public gallery to hear the case. They were directed to the First Court on Tuesday, when the matter will next be called.
