Bail for soldier charged with beating teen

THE SOLDIER who faced five charges, including beating a teenage girl and resisting arrest, was yesterday granted bail.

Dahal Green, 28, was placed on $75,000 bail.

He appeared before Senior Magistrate Indra Ramoo-Haynes in the First Court yesterday.

Last Friday Green was denied bail by Deputy Chief Magistrate Mark Wellington who said bail would only be considered when the accused gave his fingerprints.

Green, of Marabella, pleaded not guilty to the charges that he assaulted a 19-year-old by beating and damaging her $90 pair of black tights.

It was also alleged he resisted arrest, used obscene language and behaved in a disorderly manner.

The charges stemmed from an alleged argument at Kojo’s Bar on Southern Main Road, Marabella, at around 1.30 a.m. on Friday. Charges were laid by constable Marash.

Green has four years service in the Defence Force and was based at Camp La Romaine. He will reappear in court next Monday.
