A man hunted by police in connection with the murders of two Tobagonian teenagers last month surrendered early yesterday to officers at the St Mary’s Police Post, Moruga.
The 32-year-old man of Tobago gave up three days after his alleged accomplice, Gary Mohammed, was shot dead in the Moruga forest during an alleged gunfight with police.
Both men are suspects in the killings of Kolen Salandy, 16, and Rondell Thomas, 15, who were found with their necks broken at French Fort, Scarborough, Tobago.
Citizens were asked to help police find the men, who were last seen in the Princes Town area.
Last Friday, police said a woman tipped them off that the men were hiding out in a shack in a forested area of St Mary’s Village.
The police said when they surrounded the shack during a raid at 10.15 p.m. that night, the suspects tried shooting their way to freedom.
Mohammed was killed. The other escaped and officers believed then that the second suspect had been shot and alerted medical institutions to report anyone seeking attention for gunshot wounds.
The suspect appeared uninjured yesterday, police said.
