Dookeran, Warner to share stage

Congress of the People (COP) Political Leader Winston Dookeran will address the People’s Governing Council Meeting of the National Joint Action Committee (NJAC) tomorrow morning.

In the evening, Dookeran will then share a platform with Chaguanas West MP Jack Warner, when he delivers the feature address at the Chaguanas West Divali celebrations at the Marchin Recreation Ground, Chaguanas, at 6.30 p.m.

It will be the first time Dookeran is sharing the same platform with Warner in over three years.

The NJAC meeting will be held at the La Joya Complex in St Joseph from 9 a.m.

A COP release yesterday stated that Dookeran will speak on monetary and fiscal policies. COP members Robert Mayers and Prakash Ramadhar will also address this meeting.

Dookeran’s acceptance of Warner’s invitation comes a mere month after both politicians sat together for a lunch meeting at Femmes du Chalet in Port of Spain.

Following that meeting, both gentlemen agreed that future meetings would be held between them in an attempt to fashion a common understanding on certain key political issues.

In a release yesterday, Warner said Dookeran’s return to Chaguanas West ’would be something of a homecoming’, as Dookeran had once served as MP for Chaguanas.

’I am positive that his message would be well received and that it could lead to bigger and brighter things in the future,’ Warner said, adding that he intends to speak with Dookeran about scheduling future meetings to begin to strategise on a political formula to defeat the People’s National Movement in the next election.
