Neighbours rejoice as Imran returns home

family business: The jewelry store owned by Khan's family on Queen Street, Port of Spain. -Photo: ABRAHAM DIAZ

A VISIBLY-shaken Imran Mohammed-Khan was taken back to his Mt Lambert home just after six last evening, and although his family refused to speak to the media, the young man’s neighbours expressed joy over the death of three of the men who grabbed him hours earlier.

This, however, is not the first time the family had gone through a trauma like this.

Back in September 2002, Khan’s brother, Khalil Khan, was kidnapped just seconds after he dropped off his then girlfriend at her home in Monte Grande, Tunapuna. Days later, three men were arrested for that kidnapping.

Moments after he was reunited with his family yesterday, Mohammed-Khan remained shuttered in his family’s Fourth Street home. Three unmarked police cars stopped near the home last night and slim-built Khan was escorted out the car and to his house. A female relative was with him at the time.

Fourth Street, Mt Lambert, is a quiet residential area but last night, the news of the kidnapping and what happened afterwards was still fresh in their minds as some ventured outside to lime.

The Express spoke with some of the family’s neighbours about the incident.

One man said they were a pleasant family but kept to themselves most of the time.

Other neighbours confirmed this but said the younger members of the family usually mingled with residents in the community.

’I wasn’t home when this thing happened,’ said one of the Khan’s middle-aged neighbours.

’But yuh could quote meh on this, I real glad them ******* dead...quote that!’

The man went on to say his own son operated a small business of his own, and he would not like the same thing to happen to him.

Other neighbours shared a similar opinion on the issue.

’Watch me,’ said another man, ’we does look out for each other in this area, and I glad that the police do what they do.’

Its about time that the police solved a crime by any means necessary, whilst this also highlights that we are responsible in assisting in solving crimes and our freinds and family safety. Let's continue working to fairelessly get back our country from criminals.
Kidnappers shot Posted: 2009-10-29 01:25:00 AM
Well done cops!!! You have the right idea! Kill them and then ask questions...it's about time the people of Trinidad and Tobago got some justice. Bringing them to court is a waste of time and a big chance they will get off....Kill them one by one and in grops if it's possible....Then turn your attention to their parents...Find out how come they could raise such Monsters....and I would like to see pictures of their funerals, i want to see if their mother and father will be criying for them bastards.

Congratulations to the police officers for doing a fine job. Now,this is what i call good police work.Criminals beware.we are taking back the country from you. These dispicable low life no good criminals deserve this type of treatment from the relevent authorities.Don't waste the time and money by having them appear before the courts, bring them out alive ,but make sure you shoot them up real bad so that by the time they reach the hospital they are dead... dead...dead. No questions asked.

NEIGHBOURS REJOICED: Posted: 2009-10-29 08:32:00 AM
Ofcourse this is a rejoicing matter, seeing the criminals fell by the arms of the law. This is the begining of the people taking back their nation from the vile grip of these bold criminals.
hi good work Posted: 2009-10-29 10:41:00 AM

Hearty Commendation for the Actions of both the Police and his brother Posted: 2009-10-29 06:55:00 AM
I was very happy to see the kidnap victim returned to his wife and children. It seems these gangs of kidnappers pop up ever so often and carry out their evil acts and then are killed off by the Police or other gangs. Well this gang didn't get a chance to become notorious! Let me echo the sentiments of many people I have spoken too post this incident, who share my view that the Police did a fantastic job. Personally, I will shed no tears because three kidnappers were killed. The time has come to cut the rotting fruit from the tree of civil society. Let the message be, you do serious violent crime and you will pay for it with your life! The public is sick and tired of mother's crying on TV that these criminals were "good boys" who were misled by friends! What utter hogwash! What a perversion of civil society when we live in virtual jails, while bandits roam freely in the streets. When will hard working business people be left in peace by these criminals? I can't blame anyone who is not singing D. Plumber song "nah leaving" when they have to fear kidnapping, robbery, rape and murder, because they own a legitimate business! Honestly, can you blame business people for packing up and migrating? Bravo to these top cops and to Mr. Khan's brother, whose quick thinking to follow the kidnappers, saved his brothers life.

It's about time... Posted: 2009-10-29 2:15:00 PM
It is great not having to read, "investigation in progress". Instead, in this particular case, I am reading "case solved". Too many of these cases go unsolved! However, my father, Kenneth L. Ransome, a former police offficer is proud of the good work performed by his former mates in this case. A former tranquil' classmate, the late Assitant Superintendent of PoliceTerrence Nelson, would have been proud! Keep it up.
Good Wok by the police. Posted: 2009-10-29 10:29:00 AM
Those kidnappers got exactly what they were looking for. I hope their respective family does not get on national television or the newspapers and state most emphatically how good these men were. I am pleased to hear that the police were OUTSTANDING. Young man enjoy your family and thank the Gods. God has your back. Elated Trini, NY
Show their pictures! Posted: 2009-10-29 5:50:00 PM
I want to see what they look like. Show the pictures of these kidnappers so that their parents can hang their heads in shame!
