I am afraid for our Trini people because of this meeting !
Mr Panday and Mr Manning will seek their own interest at the expense of our country with regards to the constitution reform. They have no loyalty to anyone BUT THEMSELVES !
God help us ! |
Knowing Panday and the deals he likes to cut, I will not be surprised.

Dookeran's comments are ego driven. In all democracies there are meetings between Government and Opposition. If Manning wants to meet Panday because of the Leader of the Opposition brilliant presentation on HCU, then that is progress. These poor people who lost their money need a lifeline. syl |

It’s a great irony that Dooks and his cohorts do not trust Panday to enter into political accommodation, but they would promote the idea that Manning would trust him completely.
At what “particular point in time” would Dr. Ryan have preferred for the parties to meet on national matters?
Warner’s celebrated “football” meeting with Manning resulted in his open support for Government initiatives against party lines. But Panday is no Warner, though he has warned this nation against much in his years of service.
That the proposed meeting has been arranged in the full glare of the public view makes all the speculation immaterial.
Does anyone doubt that Manning recognises Panday’s importance to national affairs despite his grand efforts to disregard him? Panday remains relevant to National politics and Governance beyond the understanding of his detractors.
Protagonists unite against a common foe. It is a great pity that Dooks has failed to grasp this and continues to disdain the man to whom he owes his political identity.
Whatever Manning has on his mind, it is in the national interest that Panday should meet at his request. Panday may not regard Manning highly, but he has always recognised the office he himself once held and which he may well reoccupy if Dooks and his friends would awaken from their stupor.

About two months ago there was an article in the papers where the Attorney General stated that the Prime Minister was indebted to the Country at a cost of ($1,153,811)One million, one hundred and fifty three thousand, eight hundred and 11 dollars and he paid back ($555,000) in 1997. The article also stated that Mr Panday was also indebted to the Government of Trinidad and Tobago a large amount of money as well. One has to assume that they finally found it shameful and that they both bad pay and “We say in Trinidad and Tobago that “Bad pay kill Trust”!! They decided to come up with a strategy to pay back the money where by giving themselves a bit of credibility and saving face. Just to let My Prime Minister know that I calculated the amount and this is what he actually owes if his last payment was still in 1997. Initial sum was $1,153,811 amount paid back was $55500. Balanced owed was $598,811. But since he did not pay back that money in time from 1997 to 2009 twelve years had lapsed and so at 6% interest annually it would mean that for one year the interest would have accumulated to $35,928 x 12 years = $431,136,00. Now you add this amount to the balanced initially owed which was $598,811,00 will give us a total of $1,029,947,00. So unless he sneaked up on the “people” and paid, he still has an outstanding debt. The same calculation should be applied to his partner in crime. Restitution is long overdue, if I have to ban meh belly, I think what is good for Gopaul should also be good for Seepaul as well !! Underestimated by most, Mr Manning does have the political "smarts". Only good could come out of meeting with Panday. They can patch up old differences, and Mr. Manning could make him a series of private promises that he will never keep. Intention and action will collide. |

And Dookeran says meetings "Must be used for the people's interest not to promote any kind of deals of a political nature".
How naive this man is.
Totally ill equipped to ever be a political leader. Which is a compliment.
Nice guys always finsh last. If there are not a few votes in it then why and when do politicians EVER exert themselves?

Great comment Mr Dookeran. I like your display of maturity. You are on the right track. Mr Manning only summons Mr Panday when some kind of deal is in the making.Continue the fight for transparency. |

Panday is a PNM puppet, who has not demonstrated any formidable opposition. That is why there are so much outcries for him to step aside - Trini, USA |

So Mr. Dookie & Mr. Ryan have crystal balls???? How do they know the nature and details of the meeting..

It is not a matter of them having crystal balls ... it's a matter that they know that Manning has something up his sleeve and is only wanting to meet with Panday for his (Manning) own benefit, and Panday now being squeezed by his own party members, wants to look good or attempt to look good as if he is doing something. Manning is not foolish....selfish yes, arrogant yes...but not foolish. He knows that by helping the HCU, and letting Panday take credit, it will help Panday regain some confidence within the UNC, and thus win the UNC internal elections, which will in effect guarantee Manning another election victory. This because he (Manning) knows that Panday can't contain himself for too long and at some point will open his big mouth and say something that will hurt the UNC down the road. Unlike most of the PNM and UNC supporters that are blind and easily fooled by their leaders, these men 9dookeran and Ryan) have first hand experienced political "ransom" by both Manning and Panday. I have always stated that there are NO good leaders in all three men, but at least the intelligent man on the street knows that nothing good has EVER come about with Manning and his partner Panday ... or as I would like to say PanManningDay. Rum and Roti anyone? |

We can tell from Panday's past performances where deal was made. Panday will sell his soul if he have to but its to late the few remaining supporters of the UNC are calling for him to step down. |

Manning knows he needs Panday to keep his PM post in the next eletions, and Panday knows he needs the PNM to keep his Leader of Opposition post also. The country is racing downhill since the Crowne-Plaza deal and now both are going "ex-to-board"! Citizens, wake up, open your eyes and think of your children and grandchildren (not race!) when next you vote! |

A little internet research by Ryan would reveal that meetings between government leader and opposition is normal in democracies. Ryan's comment is as bad as the results of some of his grossly inaccurate polls. For Warner fans, he is not the Leader of the Opposition nor was his Manning meeting transparent.syl |
