A THREE-year-old boy was electrocuted on Sunday night as he crawled on the roof of his home to retrieve a ball.
The incident occurred at Sea Lots, Port of Spain, after the child came into contact with a live wire.
Terrell Manswell was pronounced dead on arrival at the Port of Spain General Hospital around 7 p.m. after he was taken for medical care.
The child’s parents, Larry Manswell and Keisha Prime, whose home is located just off the Beetham Highway about a stone’s throw away from the Port of Spain lighthouse, said they were too distraught to speak when the Express visited their home.
Manswell said he took his son to the hospital, ’but to tell you the truth, I eh really know what happened because I wasn’t there at the time,’ he said.
Another relative, however, told the Express that around 6 p.m. on Sunday, the toddler was seen playing football with some of his cousins not too far from his home.
Shortly before 7 p.m. his mother took him home, the relative said.
’We was down the road,’ said the relative, ’when we hear he get shock.’
She added that the boy was, ’accustomed’ to climbing on top the house.
’They carry him to hospital ... but when they watch at him he already dead already,’ she said.
Besson Street police are continuing investigations.
