...this is how we treat him. Saudi doesn't have an embassy in Trinidad, so every year when a few hundred Trinidadians need visas for hajj quickly we normally have to go through all sorts of problems with the (non-english speaking) Caracas Saudi Embassy or in Brazil or something. Then they organize to help us and our police ( who, by the way, can't put real criminals in jail and protect innocent citizens) come and embarrass us.

I too am in praise to Mr Craig for how he dealt with the matter. I am quite sure that the government of Saudi Arabian understood what happened and they took no offence. Well done Mr Craig. |

And so he should. All the furore was uncalled for yesterday. In our view the police did there job to the best of their ability. What if he was only in disguise and was there for other purposes and something had happened? I'm sure like hell all you goody two shoes would have been singing from a different page. Besides we all know we are not as safe as we'ld like to believe. So thanks Com for openly praising your deputy. Concerned PPLe |

You guys are a couple of bungling peas in the same pod, so no less is expected of you. Was the comment about the Hindu holy book necessary?, was that made to show you weren't only against the muslims? Talk about foot in mouth.. |

I know that a deputy is essential but he should be going after the real criminals of the country. The murderers, kidnappers, pedophiles, burglars, pedophiles, and corrupt government politicians. |

This matter should be laid to rest now. The Police did their jobs, and they did it well. It is not often that I am satisfied with the Police in Trinidad, but this time, praises are due to them. Enough already with this Saudia Arabian man. He went back home and Trinidad did everything to ensure his safe return back home. Do not talk about it again. I have had enough. We are a country of laws, whether they believe it or not. |

What laws? Who are you to believe that nonsense? If T&T is a country of laws, then why are they afraid to go after those criminals in Laventille? |

This is our country and we run it, not foreigners! Job well done to the Acting Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner! Show the world that Trinidad might be small but don’t think you can come to our country and do whatever you want and think you are not going to be challenged by our law enforcement. Trinidad should keep on guard and keep all foreigners on check.

Hopefully this brings some light to the fact that the police in most cases show no respect to the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago. If the citizens get no respect who the hell is an outsider. Yes i know it is a hard job to do especially with the state of crime in the country and the brazeness of the criminal elements within society. On the other hand can someone tell me why the police beat people up for no reason except the fact that they ask a question or make a comment that the police did not like . My officer your uniform or job title does not give you the right to violate the hardworking productive members of society because you are having a bad day or problems at home. |

All those who were critical of Mr. Craig I hope you are readingor looking at the news this morning where one of these lunatics went ballsitic and murdered his fellow soldiers in Fort Wood Texas. He was on the FBI radar for six months so if our offiers received intelligence they did the right thing. |

Where is the rule of natural justice for the family of Nail Ali and the many kidnap victims who were kidnapped and murdered. where is the intelligence? Were is the intelligence about who had guns and ammo in the St. Joseph station. Philbert, you are not in a position to congratulate anyone. If you had any shame you would stare at your toes and shut up. |

Send Craig to search every house in Leventille. That's a greater threat to Trinidad. But that will not happen because they are too scared to search laventille, are afraid of upsetting the voters or know if they search Laventille, many well know people will be exposed. Get your priorities straight mr. policeman |

This issue is very important for the maturity and professioal growth of the Police Service.I do not think that people really like crying down Officers, who really want to do good. But based upon the majority of the comments in this issue,I want to be sure,we know what is being asked for,or what some of us seem to be sanctioning. You see my brothers and sisters, the police conduct towards this "Muslim" Diplomat is the same behaviour that we have been complaning about for years. We cannot have the police arbitrary and capriciously breaking down our doors,or entering our premises,at will.At least this diplomat knows now,how it feels to be violated by authority. It goes on in most "Muslim" countries "today". If this was an American,or Canadian,or British citizen with a diplomatic passport this incident would have never occured. Just like this will happen to"ordinary" citizens, but not the Goodwood Park,Ellisie Pk,or any of the "rich"areas. Think, people, think. The police can do better work,if they are restricted from regular violations of the people's rights. One set of "SOP" for everyone.Diplomat damage control in this one.Aubert Modeste

Really cannot please Trinidadians, if the police got intelligence and acted on it that's commendable. Being a foreigner does not exempt you from being probed or checked in the interest of national security. The laws of the land must take prominance. |

This is the type of situations that are going to continue to haunt T@T,with this premature development.Manning wants T@T to be the Mecca of the Region, the Lord and Manning alone knows what impression these visitors are given of T@T.I wonder if he (Manning) gave the impression that they(visitors)can work, anyhow, anywhere in cool air-conditioner rooms. Why else would these people feel comfortable enough,to issue official Government documents(visas) in this manner.Gun and drug dealers, most likely broker deals in the Hyatt already, but off course, the police would never know.Aubert Modeste |

The appropriate approach for the police,if and when, they had gotten this information, was to send an undercover Muslim-looking officer,to the room.He could have gone their under the pretext of obtaining a visa and any other services that was offered. He would have gotten live and direct information, that would have help them in their decision to invade,or not invade. But investigation techniques,by T@T police, well,no comment.Good investigators investigate, they do not play rambo. The only agency who had the authority to go into this man's room and do what the cops alledgedly did,was Custom Officers. They have that authority.Aubert Modeste |
