FOUR pressmen of the Express newspaper were injured in an early-morning accident along the Priority Bus Route yesterday.
Of the four who were injured, Russell Seenath’s injuries were said to be the most serious. He reportedly had to have his left arm amputated after the crash. The other men-Christopher Sobit, Andel Noel and Kyle Fridy-suffered minor injuries.
Bunny Jack, pressroom manager, said at around 2 a.m, the men were travelling in a maxi-taxi east along the PBR. They were on their way home in a maxi-taxi after work when a car collided into the left side of the 12-seater vehicle at the Morvant Junction intersection.
He said the maxi then overturned and Seenath, who was sitting in one of the right passenger seats, ended up with his arm trapped below the vehicle. Up to last night, he was warded at the Port of Spain General Hospital in a stable condition.
The other occupants of the maxi, which was full at the time, all escaped with minor injuries.
Officers at the Barataria Police Station confirmed the accident had occurred and that Seenath had lost his arm. Investigations are continuing.
