Suspect held in mall death

A SUSPECT in the stabbing death of teenager Amin Best at Trincity Mall, earlier this month, was arrested by officers attached to the Arouca Police Station on Thursday.

A senior officer with the Arouca Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) said yesterday that the suspect was arrested after officers received an anonymous call, informing them that a man fitting the description of the sketch they had issued to media houses on Tuesday was seen in the Piarco area.

Police responded to the call and later arrested the suspect in Piarco.

The suspect was in custody and assisting police with their investigations into the teenager’s death last evening.

On the night of November 7, Best, of Alexander Street, Tacarigua, was liming with friends at the mall, when they were confronted by another group.

An argument ensued and Best was stabbed multiple times about the body, in the mall’s car park. He was rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
