what utter stupidness. opposition for opposition sake is just ignorance. if hospital workers especially consultant medical practitionners are not given the vaccine first, who will take care of the population? Furthermore, I am no PNM supporter but the fact is that the country has to be run and our leaders, however foolish they may be, must be vaccinated first. |

I was shocked and appalled to hear that the goverment wanted to give the vaccine to decision makers first, how can we as a society not see how self serving this is, what about the high risk groups such as children in schools, it blows my mind that we are so blind to their arrogance are they better than us in some way. People we need to stand up to this bullying government and stop being a seven day wonder, wake up if you stand for nothing then you fall for everything |
H1N1 Vaccination VS Tamiflu

The author of this article or maybe Roodal Noonilal himself is using Tamiflu and the H1N1 Vaccination interchangeably: Tamiflu is the TREATMENT given after a person is confirmed to have H1N1 where as the H1N1 Vaccination like all other vaccinations PREVENTS (or helps at least)a person from contracting the disease.
Please Inform yourselves! |

Someone in authority in Canada had to quit his job after he made the H1N1 vaccination available to a hockey team. |
Vaccine to those most at risk

The H1N1 vaccine should be distributes to those most at risk. Vaccinating oledr "government officials" who are at minimal risk for the H1n1 flu is a travesty. Those at risk are pregnant women, children under 6 months, care givers of children unser 6 months, children 6 months to 18 years,Adults with upper respiratory illnesses and illness that impactimmune supression response in the body.
The education of the public on how H1N1 is transmitted, good cough ettique and handwashing is necessary to stem the tide of H1N1. |

Mr. Moonilal has the right idea when it comes to distributing the swine flu vaccine to those that need it the most first and in areas that are mostly affected. But they should also consider that the vaccine if administered in those areas and a person still contracts the illness their symptoms will be far worst than if they are vacinated after they are tested positive but this must be done within a few days. Time is of essence and it cannot take 7 days to confirm the illness because for the vaccine to work it has to be administered before that. |

It's so typical that the Gov would make a decision like this. Every country in the world is giving priority to high risk people, elderly and babies. But Trinidad the VIPs are more important of course... |
Swine flu "mis-representation"

I sometimes wonder if those who are always quick to criticize do not take the time first to get all their facts in order. The Ministry of Health made an announcements based on WHO guidelines on how the swine flu vaccine was to be administered just as WHO has alot to do with the Tobacco control Bill.So for the uneducated and beligerent people in TT it is not the gov't planning to do its citizens ill will but they are infact mandated to do such and regardless of what political party is in power the same would be their position.
So Mr Moonilala, for such an educated person I wonder how such a matter slipped your intention, or is it just "political mileage" you are embarking on. |
H1N1 Vaccine

The H1N1 vaccine is reccomened by the WHO to be given to high risk individuals such as pregnant women, people under 65 with chronic conditions, children between the ages of 6 mths to 5 yrs of age. Adults 19 - 64 years - As compared to adults over 65, this group has an increased rate of infection and a higher risk of severe outcomes. Pregnant women are at highest risk for severe disease if they do contract the virus. Additionally maternal immunization while pregnant may help to protect the infant after birth.
Having said that people who do not fall in those categories should take normal precautions to protect themselves as they would from a regular flu.

Do not fall for this deception.Government ministers will not be given the H1N1 vaccines. They would be given(the regular flu vaccines,or a placebo). This is just to convince the citizens, that it's save to take the vaccines, which long term effects, are still really unproven. Narace always believed that he can fool everyone.Aubert Modeste |
