Meteorologist: Expect more showers today

Trinidad and Tobago can expect more rainfall today.

However, according to meteorologist Bryan Thomas, the showers should not be as intense like those over the weekend.

’I’m not seeing any intense rainfall that will cause flash flooding tomorrow (today),’ he told the Express in a telephone interview yesterday.

Thomas forecasted continuing periods of isolated showers for last night and today with improvement by this afternoon.

Following Sunday’s heavy rains, several areas in Carenage, Chaguaramas and Diego Martin and Petit Valley experienced flash flooding.

These areas included Big Yard and Raymond Street in Carenage; the Chaguaramas Convention Centre and Tucker Valley in Chaguaramas; Crystal Stream, Factory Road, Farfan Street, Goodwood Gardens, Manning Street and Victoria Gardens in Diego Martin and Apple Blossom in Petit Valley.

According to the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM), the Disaster Management Team of the Diego Martin Regional Corporation and workers from CEPEP carried out clean-up operations in the areas affected.

When the Express visit Diego Martin yesterday there were no signs of debris or damage from the flooding.
