Why these two opposites attract

While I agree with Mr Reginald Dumas that this PNM administration is the worst in the nation’s history, Mr Manning is not devoid of political tricks (I almost said skill.)

His meeting with Mr Panday is to legitimise Panday’s hold on the UNC, which is now threatened. Why? Because as long as Panday is leader of the Opposition, Manning’s hold on power is more secure.

Everyone, except Mr Panday, knows that the old Bas is unelectable. Everyone knows, so glaring are the sins of this PNM administration, that should the Opposition unite under a new leader, Mr Manning would lose the next election.

These two Presentation College old boys need each other to survive. I could remember Mr Manning saying he would never meet with Mr Panday unless there is a ladder in the room. His meeting with him now is pure self-serving politics.
