Squandermania, PNM-style

I almost freaked out when I heard the government spent a staggering $2 million on a national flag, which Sport Minister Gary Hunt says will bring about national pride. The senseless use of the public purse begs the question of the just proportionate distribution of monies to areas that really need funding.

Readily, several areas of national concern come to mind, such as the spiralling crime situation, the inefficient public health sector, the inadequate security systems, the underdeveloped agricultural policy, the ridiculing of our national sporting heroes. Just think about what this money could have done for our national cricketers.

The Sport Minister is now insulting our intelligence by having a news conference to commission this flag which, at this exorbitant cost, does not even have a motored pulley to hoist our national colours! This is just another example of true People’s National Movement squandermania.
