SOMEONE once said that all it takes to be a Minister of Government is a level head. Well, day in day out, I am appalled by statements coming from these PNM Ministers. From Gary Hunt, to Neil Parsanlal, and the latest is from Colm Imbert. He wants to recover monies from the owner of a truck that ran into the Bailey bridge at Macoya.
When Jizelle Salandy ran into the concrete pillar and damaged it, did he go after the owner of the car? When people, on almost a weekly basis, run into light poles along the highway breaking them, or in some cases bending them, is any compensation sought?
The owner of the truck should sue the State for having a Bailey bridge on a major highway. So many people have died at this location; their relatives should sue the State for not expediting repairs.
When cars float away if 10 minutes of rain falls in Port of Spain, the owners should sue the City Corporation for not providing proper drainage. When that maxi taxi went down in the drain at City Gate because of the rusted grating, the owner should have sued the State for not providing proper services, paid for with our taxes.
Some of these ministers really don’t know where to stop, or how to have compassion. For so long that bridge at Macoya had collapsed, why isn’t it already repaired? Instead of expressing remorse because the State can find $2 million to erect a flag but can’t fix a bridge in a timely manner, Imbert is mouthing off about the State going after the owner of the truck. For your information,
Mr Minister, that is why people have insurance.
I hope and pray every day for some divine intervention to help us get away from this incompetent, wasteful Government. Otherwise instead of 2020 vision, we’ll be facing an exchange rate of TT$200 to US$1 in 2012, and the same people who shouting ’I is PNM till I dead’ will have to drink drain water. Oh wait, what am I saying? This is happening already.
