Trinidad and Tobago pilot, Daniel Ramoutarsingh and his Trinrico Racing team finished third overall in the second installment of the Copa Diana motor sport event, the 2008 Costa Rica GT-1 Championship, in the Central American country recently.
Ramoutarsingh and company were among participants from the USA, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and the hosts in the event considered the premier motor sport championship in the region.
Ramoutarsingh’s team comprised Rocketsports’ own Tony Gentilozzi, Troy Cowgill, Marti Donavon, John ’Big Bear’ Smythe and Joachim Brandt of Costa Rica.
Trinrico copped third spot overall after finishing fifth and second in two 30-minute races.
Puerto Rican Javier Queros, in his Rocketsports #14 Toyota Supra, was the overall winner, while fellow ’boricua’ Edison Lurch Jr. finished second overall. The event marks Ramoutarsingh’s first podium as a rookie pilot, and T&T’s first podium finish in regional GT-1 Motor Sport.
Ramoutarsingh, previously supported by the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, is hoping this performance helps him find a resolution after his subvention was put on hold by newly-appointed Sports Minister Gary Hunt.
