Jabloteh advance 5-2 on aggregate

Cyrano Glen scored 13 minutes after the opening kickoff and Devon Jamerson and Robert Primus added second-half goals to give San Juan Jabloteh a 3-1 victory over ten-man Inter Moengo Tapoe in Paramaribo, Suriname on Monday, with the T&T Pro League champions advancing to the semi-finals of the Caribbean Club Champions Cup.

Both Jamerson and Primus’s goals came after Sirano Amoeferie was ejected in the 41st minute after drawing two consecutive yellow cards from referee Mark Forde.

Marlon Bron had given the home team the lead with a goal in the third minute, but Glen equalised ten minutes later and Amoeferie’s ejection further hampered the Suriname club’s efforts.

Following Jabloteh’s 2-1 win in the first leg last week at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella, the result completed a 5-2 aggregate victory and they advanced to a single game semi-final match on May 15 in Trinidad.

Jabloteh are now within one win of advancing to the CONCACAF Champions League. Three teams qualify from the Caribbean championship for next season’s confederation championship.

Jabloteh became the first team to reach the semi-finals, along with Puerto Rico Islanders, who were given a bye to the final four having reached the semi-finals of the last Caribbean club championship and being only one of two teams who returned to this year’s tournament.

Tempete FC of Haiti also moved closer to the semi-finals with a 4-0 victory over Antigua’s Greenbay Hoppers, getting a pair of goals from Cadet Eliphene.

Eliphene scored in the 43rd and 71st minutes after Charles Herrold opened the scoring in the 28th and Amius Thompson added another in the 35th at the Antigua Recreation Ground in St. John’s. Tempete will host their home leg in Saint Marc on May 1. And one other series has yet to be completed. T&T’s W Connection will travel today to Haiti to face SA Cavaly for the second leg of their second round encounter, with the T&T Pro League runners-up leading 3-1 after the first leg. Once the four semi-finalists are decided, a draw will determine the pairings.

The semi-final winners will qualify for the CONCACAF Champions League and advance to the title match on May 17 in Trinidad.

The third-place match will precede the title game and determine the final Champions League qualifiers.
