Providence Girls High School successfully defended their BG T&T North/East Zone InterCol title yesterday with a 5-3 win over St Joseph’s Convent Port of Spain in the final at St Joseph’s Convent Ground on Serpentine Road.

Melissa Woo Ling opened the scoring for Providence with a penalty and a double from Akeisha De La Rosa and a goal each from Samantha Kissoon and Stephanie Woo Ling completed the scoring for the champions.

The game was a keenly-contested affair, with St Joseph’s skipper Megan Murray finding the back of the net twice, while Stephanie Nahous added another goal to keep their title hopes alive, but they could not get closer as they continue to play second fiddle to the North Zone league champs.

In other results yesterday, Point Fortin East Secondary booked their place in the South Zone final thanks to a 2-0 win over Fyzabad Anglican in the first game of a double-header at Guaracara Park, Pointe-a-Pierre.
