Former Caribbean junior (under-18) table tennis champion Kenwin Small is among four players who will represent Trinidad and Tobago on a development tour to Barbados at the end of the month.
Small, his Carenage Blasters teammate Kwame Rodriguez, Mark Modeste of Arima Hawks and University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) player Kyle Borneo leave for Barbados on November 27 and are scheduled to return home on November 30.
Of the four players making the trip to Barbados, Borneo is the highest ranked. He is number seven on the T&T Table Tennis Association (T&TTTA) list, while Rodriguez is ranked 11th, Small 17th and Modeste 38th.
Collin Cudjoe will accompany the team as manager/coach.
Cudjoe has also been named manager of the T&T table tennis team for the 2010 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
Former national champion Reeza Burke is the T&T manager for the October 3-14 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India.
In February, Catherine Spicer and Orell Cooper will represent the country at the Youth Olympic Games Pan American qualifier, in El Salvador. Spicer’s father, Simon Spicer, is the manager/coach.
The First Youth Olympic Games will be staged in Singapore next August.
Cooper, a student at Pentecostal Light & Life, will be in action at Scarborough Secondary, on Saturday, in the Scotiabank Schools Table Tennis Championship Tobago qualifying tournament. First serve is at 9.30 a.m.
The Scotiabank Championship national finals in the under-15 and open divisions will be staged on December 5 and 6 at the Central Regional Indoor Sports Arena, in Chaguanas, while the under-10 and under-13 categories will be played at Scarborough Secondary on December 12.
