Players reach Norman's quarter-finals

PLAYERS secured the final spot in the Norman’s Windball Cricket League quarter-finals following a seven-wicket win over Crapaud United  at the Bally Trace Community Centre ground in Tacarigua last weekend.

Chasing a small score of 54 for victory, the men in red and white reached 57 for three with more than one over to spare. Kevin Ramdhanie led the way with an unbeaten 21. Rohan Parsan and Gary Cupidore had two for ten each for the winners. No Crapuad United player got into double figures.

Tacarigua All Stars B--one of three Tacarigua teams in the last eight-stopped RVB Glass by seven runs to book their passage to the next phase. Chasing 91 for a place in the quarter finals, RVB Glass put in a gallant effort before falling short. They reached 84 for eight when their 12 overs expired.

Rishard Ali was the topscorer with a fighting 38 and Sherwin Raymond chipped in with 12. Captain Ryan Baksh took two for five and Kevin Baptiste, two for 15 to help keep the losers in check.

Mickel Barath was the leading scorer for the winners with 34, while Baptiste and Terrence Rampersad pitched in with 20 and 11 respectively.

Brent Nakhid bagged four for five for last year’s beaten finalists Spring Village as they humbled Team Anthrax by five wickets. Batting first, Anthrax were held to 57 for six, and in response, Spring Village got to 58 for five.

Marcus Daniel--the 2008 Most Valuable Player--stayed on course for a repeat when he smashed a brilliant undefeated 55 (three sixes and four fours) to pace Canaan/Bon Accord to a comprehensive 53-run win over Tristan Hearts.

Peter Mahase struck an enterprising 31 not out for Game Over as they beat Kings Eleven by six wickets.

In the Best-of-the Rest knockout, Dinsley Cricket Club advanced to the next round with a 28-run win over Krypton Knights.
