NATIONAL volleyball captain Mark Anthony Daly, who died last Thursday in a vehicular crash on the Solomon Hochoy Highway, was given a hero’s send-off yesterday.

Daly was remembered as a man who possessed an unshakable sense of commitment to his family, his community, his country and the sport of volleyball.

His body, carried in a hearse from Belgroves Funeral Home, San Fernando was accompanied by a procession from the Siparia Police Station to the La Divina Pastora RC Church where a service was held. Joining the session were several schoolchildren, members of the Cadet Force and well known ’T&T flag’ bearer Peter Diaz.

Members of the national volleyball team, dressed in their official uniform, bore the body of their fallen captain into the church.

Daly, 29, who was employed as a volleyball coach at the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, was eulogised by his sister Danyela Daly-Warner who spoke of his love for his infant daughter Kai and fiancee Kecia Jones who he had planned to marry next year.

His body was interred at the Siparia Public Cemetery.
