33 called for T&T U-23 Bermuda tour

T&T U-20 captain: Leston Paul

SEVERAL members of the national Under-20 team who participated in the 2009 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Egypt, including goalkeeper Glenroy Samuel, are in a squad of 33 players which the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation has called up for training ahead of a visit to Bermuda over the Christmas period for an invitational tournament.

Trinidad and Tobago last played in Bermuda in 2008 when the senior Soca Warriors defeated that country’s senior team courtesy of goals by Darryl Roberts and Stern John to book their passage to the 2010 World Cup CONCACAF qualifying semi-final round.

The current players will form a T&T Under-23 team for the upcoming visit to Bermuda.

Among the new call-ups are Ma Pau SC’s Trevin Caesar, former T&T Under-15 captain Jerrel Britto, Ryan Frederick and defender Stephen Campbell, a member of the national Under-17 squad which played at the 2007 FIFA Under-17 World Cup in South Korea.

The regulars include national Under-20 captain Leston Paul, goalkeepers Samuel, Jesse Fullerton and Andre Marchan, along with Trent Lougheed, Robert Primus, Jean Luc Rochford, Juma Clarence and Akeem Adams.

The players will assemble for training at Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva on December 1 from 4-6 p.m.

The T&T team will play for the Bermuda Football Association (BFA) Cup when they face Bermuda’s national Under-23 team in two games on December 28 and January 1.

They will also face top Bermudan club Devonshire Cougars on December 30.

’As part of its strategic plan, the BFA is committed to rebuilding the competitiveness of Bermuda football and we will continue to expose our teams to top quality competition,’ said BFA general secretary David Sabir.

’This three-match series will provide a barometer of the level of our football in comparison to our counterparts within the Caribbean region,’ he added.

INVITED T&T PLAYERS:

Glenroy Samuel, Andre Marchan, Jesse Fullerton, Zane Coker, Sheldon Clarke, Noor Abdulla Muhammed, Nicholas Walker, Aubrey David, Sheldon Bateau, Jevon Morris, Jeremie Williams, Jevon Joseph, Stephen Campbell, Marcus Joseph, Trent Lougheed, Shahdon Winchester, Ryan Frederick, Jerrel Britto, Kevin Molino, Curtis Gonzales, Mikeil Williams, Micah Lewis, Akeem Adams, Robert Primus, Jean Luc Rochford, Daniel Cyrus, Jamal Juma Clarence, Leston Paul, Sean De Silva, Trevin Caesaer, Rochard Wint, Qian Grosvenor, Wesley John.
