We have lost our independence
Trinidad and Tobago has lost its independence. We have for too long ignored the fact that gangs and criminals have taken over our beloved country.
There was a time when citizens could sleep in peace, where there was no worry about if your child would be gunned down when liming or merely walking the streets.
So far, 286 days have elapsed for the year and there have been 306 murders. When last have we picked up a newspaper or listened to the headline and heard something positive about Trinidad?
On a daily basis the government is blamed for crime but the government isn’t the people shooting every day in the streets.
Most areas of the country have a gang and the leaders of these gangs have been labelled community leaders, but this statement is completely false—they aren’t community leaders they are community destroyers.
It’s about time we take back our country from the hands of these gangs and all criminals.
We are in charge of our own destiny, it’s up to us whether we want to make a change, which will benefit us as well as the future of this country.
We became independent in 1962 and we will become independent once again, but the date of that independence lies within each and every one of us.
