Captain, coach need to go

I find it hard to stomach the audacity of the West Indies cricket team coach. The man is talking like he’s indispensable. The West Indies cricket team is the only sporting team in the world where there is failure after abject failure, yet the coach remains in the job. What is he doing as West Indies coach in the first place?

In his playing days he was not much more than a mediocre fast bowler on his best day and no batsman at all, at any time! How can he correct the likes of Shivnarine Chanderpaul, for instance, or even assist an obvious class player like Darren Bravo? What is that fellow doing as coach of any cricket team?

As for the captain... he is in almost the same category, except he’s worst! At least the coach usually concentrated on one aspect of the game during his playing days... bowling. This fellow makes a pretence of being an allrounder. He can’t handle any aspect of the game properly or consistently! The man has zero Test cricket pedigree! Yet he is not just a player, he is the captain! Is it any wonder West Indies cricket is in the condition it is today?

Remove those two fellows, replace them with people who actually know what it’s about and watch the miraculous change in the team’s performance. And when I say miraculous I mean it would only seem miraculous. The talent is there, the temperament is there. We just need to be rid of the two biggest hindrances... the current coach and captain.
