I would like to commend Congress of the People (COP) chairman Carolyn Seepersad-Bachan for standing up, as she says, on principle. I believe a person in office, especially important offices as Government ministers, should step aside if they are being
I congratulate her for not swaying. We all know it is a party position. I am sure many of us remember the COP making a statement very much like Mrs Seepersad-Bachan's when the FIFA matter arose with Mr Jack Warner.
In developed countries, government officials who are being investigated are expected to step down. It is not a question of if they will step down, they must step down.
But in addition to commending her for standing up on principles, I want to say that I hope and pray these voices that try to silence her are not successful. She needs to continue to stand up for integrity and principles.
As a Trinibagonian who wants to see my country develop, move forward and move away from corruption, I would like to see more leaders who will stand up for principles, and I am begging my leaders to please do so.
Please make a stand for integrity and principles.
