Colour blind about highway patrol
Jokes and comments are being made about the yellow markings on the new police highway patrol cars, more of which are on the way.
Me? I don’t care. Whether the cars are in People’s Partnership (UNC) yellow, PNM red or ILP green it does not matter. The point is to get those vehicles on the roads quickly to deter those of us who brazenly run red lights, drive as if we trying out to be Nascar or Formula One racing drivers, overtake recklessly, drive with outrageously bright high beams, drive on the highway shoulders, change lanes without warning, stop and turn corners without using indicators, use hand-held cellphones etc, the list goes on and on....
Call me colour blind. Just put the cars and the police officers to work.
With all the talk about the terrible crime rate this could a perfect way to make a dent in the lawlessness the whole nation has been complaining about. If Minister Gary Griffith wants to make a mark, this would a great way to start.
I hope that this new unit would have their own dedicated phone lines that would enable them to react quickly.
