ToolsCongrats to all our Olympianscongrats to all our Olympians who far exceeded expectations and special wishes must go out to Keshorn Walcott, a humble human being from the tiny fishing village of Trois Roches, Toco, who dared to take on the might of Europe, humbling them with a throw of 84.58 metres and setting a national record. This teenager with his mother's milk still etched on the furrows of his brow forced the stadium announcers to command 80,000 seated patrons in both French and English, to stand for the national anthem of Trinidad and Tobago. Keshorn was spotted two years ago at one of the Ministry's rural sports caravans and since then was assigned the best coach, a Cuban named Ishmael Lopez, to develop his raw talent and now we are reaping the rewards. It was intended that at 19 years, he was just going for the experience and would give it a go at 23 in Brazil 2016, but he astounded the world. With his achievement and those of our other representatives these are the results we are having under this present Minister of Sport. Laurence Percival Curepe |
