Deadly lifestyle

The lyrics of a famous pop song, “Killing Me Softly”, came to mind at the airport early yesterday morning when I observed the long line of mostly young people lining up at a popular fast food outlet.

I couldn’t help but notice that most of the patrons were overweight in spite of their ages and immediately concluded (although I might be wrong) that their obesity is related to their diet. That, in conjunction with the fact that they do not exercise because their lifestyle of always being on their “tablets” or smart phones does not allow it, could be detrimental to their longevity.

My uncle who was with me could not stop laughing when I commented, “at least the Government has one positive thing to look forward to in the future —they will not have to pay old age pension to many of this generation because their lifestyle will ensure that they do not live to 65”.
