Do parties get EMA approval?
Are political parties exempt from obtaining Environmental Management Authority (EMA) approval to conduct election campaigns, be they mobile or stationary? The reason I am asking is that I haven’t seen any notices posted in any of our newspapers depicting such, as churches and any other responsible groups holding as much as a tea party or any such outdoor activity that requires the use of a public address system are obligated to do.
The above requirements also come with a cost, so it would be interesting to know how much revenue the EMA is being deprived of if these obligations are not being met.
The same could be asked of weddings, fish vendors, death announcements, business advertisers and anyone else who wishes to deprive us of our rights to peace and quiet any time of the day or late night.
Payments to Copyright Organisation of Trinidad and Tobago is another sore point that needs to be investigated. Perhaps a “Mark-Buss-ant” could supply us with this information.
